Until, Until, Until…
"Until, Until, Until..." is a performance art piece that functions as a video installation when not activated. A character stumbles through past and present while performing a series of disparate identities in an attempt to recover an essential piece of history that was lost. The piece was inspired by the true story of Ben Vereen, a Broadway actor whose homage to Black Vaudeville performers was edited for television with disastrous results. "Until, Until, Until.." explores the slippery quality of narrative and the inescapable influence of the past. It asks us to reconsider the parameters of performance and the our ability to establish a concrete sense of self when confronted by the fluidity of perception.
